House - Before and After

Restoration underway
Present day with Sue's Folly in the foreground
New windows were created, wooden shutters added, the stone was re-pointed and galvanised steel guttering installed. A shiny white satellite dish ensures I receive all my favourite programmes.

  1. Fabulous Sue. I think I would sit outside just gazing up at the house in awe all day. Love it. Are you ever tempted to live there all year? I would be.

  2. We spent a couple of winters out here but Paul got fed up lugging logs up the steps every day. Winters can be incredibly cold. I love my summers out here - Brexit could change all that though!

    1. I brought in all the logs at my previous house, two woodburners, one for heat and hot water and one heating the rest of the house. I did it all single-handed for years, organised it and we never got cold. No other heating. Tell Paul I could do it.

  3. Lovely house; and I love those pinnacles. We're guilty of a white dish too, it gives us French TV for the bedroom, otherwise our English TV is captured by a well hidden black job.

    1. The wooden pinnacle topping the pigeonnier gets less and less each year, Paul says he won't climb up there to repair it.

  4. How brave and people of vision you must be to buy a house like it was and make it what it is. This is a beautiful house.

    1. Thank you Yael. Sometimes I think we were a little impulsive and foolhardy!
