Walking home across the fields with Rick this afternoon I looked across to our barns and thought that the scene could have come from another era, very little has changed here over the centuries. It would be very easy to conjure up an image of a horse and cart coming through the courtyard. My rotary washing line rather spoils this pastoral view.
That reminds me of the old photos in Philip Oyler's book 'The Generous Earth'. Many houses probably look much the same today.
ReplyDeleteYou can't see the satellite dish from that angle.
DeleteLovely photo! It looks right also with the washing hanging there - I don't notice it on a rotary line.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria x
It looks quite incongruous really.
DeleteIt does look delightfully bucolic that's a gorgeous photo.
ReplyDeleteBucolic, that's a good word to describe it.
DeleteI know what you mean about rural France. In the sleepiness there are palpable echoes of bygone times.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I was trying to convey, thank you Mr Pudding.
DeleteIf I had a passport photo done in 'sepia', would it make me look any younger?
ReplyDeleteQuite possibly!
