Rick is very excited at the moment because the farmers are out with their tractors picking up silage. They are working incredibly quickly and will be gone within the hour. Yesterday some horses rode by the house. I tried in vain to stop Rick from barking at them but the horses didn’t give him a second glance. I think they were of the ‘plodding, nothing fazes us’ school of horse from the local trekking centre.

Strawberries and Silage
Look what I found this morning? My
first strawberry! The taste and smell was heavenly. It will be a
couple of weeks before we get a decent crop so I couldn’t resist buying these
at market this morning. The taste is not as intense as the ones from the garden but they're still pretty good.

Strawberries in season!! So unlike the tasteless ones you get through the winter from countries far away. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteYou're right, I never buy strawberries out of season.
DeleteI too ate my first strawberries today with fresh whipped cream.
ReplyDeleteIs that, in the last picture, the field where the sunflowers grow? I hope you take a picture of them when they grow there again.
Greetings Maria x
This particular farmer only grows maize, grass and wheat. It would be lovely if they grew sunflowers too.
DeleteFresh strawberries- beauty and health combined. I like them small. The smaller, the tastier.
ReplyDeleteThey always taste better picked from the garden.
DeleteA translation of Rick's barking at the horses might have been, "My oh my, what a gorgeous bunch of fillies you are! By the way, my name is Rick! Do you want my phone number?"
ReplyDeleteYou might be right, he is such a flirt.
DeleteJust had a look at my Strawberries.... I think it'll be a while yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to a bumper crop this year, if the slugs don't get there first.
