Joint Venture

The deal we agreed was that if Paul built the posts and installed the gates then I would paint them.  The day was dry and bright so I set to work painting the gates with glossy, black paint.  The non-drip paint went on smoothly and easily and I told myself this was a doddle.  An hour or so later I had more paint on me than the gates and drips were appearing everywhere.  My gallant husband took over and finished the job for me.  Actually I think he was itching to get his hands on the paint brush because he knew he would make a better job of it.

I was supposed to be taking photos of the gates but I got distracted.

  1. Many a project I started ended up in my husband's hands. Our cat always supervises my husband's work.

    1. I always start off with good intentions but Paul has more patience and stamina than me.

  2. Lovely photos, especially of people working; I think you were secretly wishing for Paul to take over, weren't you? ;)

  5. If I had been doing that job I would have spread old sheets under the gates in case of drips. It's so hard being perfect.

    1. I was going to do that (even though I'm perfect) but Paul said it wasn't necessary.

  7. My neighbour sowed some grass seed yesterday, so all the S W France Sparrows turned up for supper; there were thousands.

I have a similar (small) gate to yours, and have decided to leave it to weather.

    1. The gates look very new and glossy now. They need to weather in a bit to match the house.

  8. You only got it wrong so that you didn't have to finish it:)
