Flip Flops

Nothing much to write about today.  We went to the supermarket this morning to stock up on booze and dog food.  I was surprised to see a woman carrying her small dog in the vegetable section, I didn’t think dogs were allowed in the store.  Then I realised it was a large lettuce she was holding.  Might need to get my eyes tested.  I further embarrassed myself by putting my cheese in the wrong cart.

“Oops, wrong trolley!”  I trilled. The small child who was guarding it looked at me as if I was a total nutcase.  No wonder Paul doesn’t let me out on my own.

We called in at the shoe shop, I wanted to get some cheap, lightweight shoes for the garden.  My flip flops don’t really give me the support I need while I’m limping about with a bad knee.  The only comfortable ones I could find looked gross.  I tried some Crocs, it was like walking with a pair of polystyrene plates on my feet.  How does John Gray do it?  In the end I bought some new flip flops.

  1. Earlier this month when shopping I took someone else's cart and rolled off with it.

  2. Regret to say that for the garden I wear cheap imitation Crocs with really thick socks. I've a pink and a blue pair. They really don't mind getting wet, muddy and wash easily if I step in a dog deposit by accident.

  3. The Lettuce Terrier is a popular hunting dog in parts of France. I saw several down in Mirepoix and Foix. In fact my brother has a fat one which he named Iceberg. Vicious little bugger.

  4. Snazzy flip-flops! Très jolie.
I could do with some new lightweight shoes for indoors - the last new pair were attacked and "dismantled" by the dog !

    1. The shop was full of winter stock so not a lot to choose from. I shouldn't really wear flip flops, they won't help my knee.

  5. Russians leave their trolleys at the end aisles in like traffic jams of trolleys and then walk to gather shopping and walk back to their trolleys with it. I never worked out how they recognised their own trolleys. I couldn't.

  6. I wear an old pair of running shoes for gardening but they got left out in the rain a couple of times and now stink to high heaven. I will have to replace them next year and I would like something I can just slip my feet into.

  7. Trouble is, flip flops (thongs in Oz) get slippery when wet and your foot can slip and hurt your knee. Gardening sneakers ???

    1. I was really looking for something without laces that I could quickly slip on and off.

  8. I once greeted a lady in Leclerc, and gave her two bisous (as one does), then realised it wasn't who I thought it was. They DID look quite similar.

    1. I remember my daughters' headmaster pinching my bottom when he thought I was someone else. I was wearing a Minnie Mouse costume and mask for the village fete at the time. He was very embarrassed when he realised his mistake.

  9. Plimsolls are fine. They are easily obtainble these days being fashionable with the young, although I still like the Dunlop green flash best. (I think this maybe what Helsie calls sneakers, not sure).

    1. Dunlop green flash, they bring back some memories of the days when I could still play tennis. Can you still get them?

    2. Yes. I have several pairs in different colours. I don't buy the white ones now.

  10. I have a pet too then; a lettuce terrier!
I love your flip flops. I have three pairs of raffia flip flop, one with black straps, one red straps and one green straps.
