This morning I have been preparing
rooms and making up beds for my imminent visitors. Kat flies into Bergerac from Bristol on
Thursday and Sarah arrives in Toulouse on Sunday via Abu Dhabi and Paris. The weather has suddenly turned cooler so I
have put warm duvets and quilts on the beds.
Hopefully we will still have some warm days in September but I suspect
the nights will stay cool.
checking for mice |
Paul is in charge of food today and
while I’ve been playing chamber maid he has prepared a pizza from scratch for
lunch. I’m trying to cut down on my food
portions because I want to avoid putting on weight while I’m unable to cycle or
hike but it’s so hard. Rick is quite a
dainty eater which surprises me because most dogs like to wolf down their food
as soon as their bowl is put down.
Sometimes he seems reluctant to approach his food but I have discovered
that if I sprinkle some imaginary fairy dust from an empty bottle over his bowl
he immediately tucks into his dinner.
Hey, don’t knock it if it works!
welcome pack |
I know you're beyond excited. Our daughter only flies in a t Christmas and I'm head chambermaid and on pins and needles wanting everything to be perfect.
ReplyDeleteThat's weird about Rick.
I'm just getting nervous now about delayed/diverted flights etc.
DeleteYou can fool all of the dogs some of the time, and some of the dogs all of the time, and there's Rick (and my Ted). Is the small dog a Buddy substitute on Sarah's bed?
ReplyDeleteHe is indeed!
DeleteIt will seem an age until Thursday comes.
ReplyDeleteIt will, and then when they're here time will whizz by.
DeleteI gotta remember that fairy dust trick... ;)
ReplyDeletePaul thought I was mad but it works!
DeleteWhat a wonderful welcome, may I also make a reservation at your lovely place?
ReplyDeleteI am also getting excited for your daughter's arrival. I wish you and Paul a happy time with them.
Greetings Maria x
Thank you Maria. You would be welcome here any time.
DeleteThe rooms look beautiful, and so welcoming, the girls will never want to leave !Love the mouse and the Buddy substitute - what a lovely gesture.
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh at the fairy dust for Rick - having had Labs for so long, a dainty, or fussy eater is an unknown quantity here!
Our old Airedale used to wolf everything down and would sit and drool if I ate a bar of chocolate. One of Rick's better points is that he doesn't drool.
DeleteI bet Paul loves it when you play chambermaid - almost as much as you love it when he plays fireman.
ReplyDeleteThere's something about a man in uniform...
DeleteI've never needed Fairy Dust with our dogs/cat; is there something else one can use to stop them eating everything in sight?
ReplyDeleteDon't know, I will have to consult my Magic Book of Spells.
DeleteHave you evicted all of the whistling bugs?
ReplyDeleteMost definitely, they have been issued with their eviction orders.
