Sunday

Today is a family Sunday at home.  Kat is here for the weekend, tempted by roast chicken for lunch.  Rick is absolutely smitten with Kat and doesn’t leave her side.  He likes pretty young women.

Yesterday Kat and I went to Royal Wootton Bassett to buy a dress pattern and some fabric.  She wants to make an evening gown for a masked ball next month.  The shop had a wonderful selection of colourful silks and satins but we ended up buying black crepe.  Kat has spent most of the morning carefully cutting the paper pattern.  She is very careful and meticulous with her sewing and has far more patience than me.  Rick is sitting at her feet snoozing as she cuts.

He is settling well into his winter home.  He sleeps in his bed at night in our room and never jumps up onto the bed.  Apart from two nights ago when he suddenly landed on top of us.  I think he might have been cold. I thought it was Paul getting amorous.

  1. Dogs are great for recognising and being friendly to people who have a kindly disposition. Our Toby has a selection of our friends who he likes and others he sits away from. I think that dogs are more knowledgeable in their own right than we humans give them credit for don't you ?

    1. Absolutely, they have senses and intuition that humans don't possess.

  2. I thought there must be a wedding coming up when I first saw the pattern.
Lucky that Rick is a dog and not a cat; if cat he would have insisted on sitting actually on the pattern assisting with the cutting.

    1. No wedding. I can imagine it would be tricky cutting patterns with cats helping out.

  3. It's nice to see that someone still sews. I haven't made clothing since my daughter was very young. Will we get to see the finished product? -Jenn

    1. Most certainly, if she ever finishes it!

  4. After all Kat's work, we must see her modelling the gown when it's finished.
So glad Rick has settled well - he's obviously very contented as long as he's with you.

  5. My mom sewed a lot. She even make my baton costumes, as well as prom-like dresses. I hated sewing (I think it was passive-aggressive blow back aimed at mom)....glad to see the art is still alive, though!

    1. I used to make curtains and fancy dress costumes but I haven't got the patience for careful tailoring.

  6. The last picture of Kat with the scissors looks a little bit scary. Like the front cover of a psycho-thriller or perhaps a vasectomy manual.
