|don't leave me behind|
After two days of travelling we have arrived back in Wiltshire and introduced Rick to his winter home.
We closed all the shutters, switched off the electricity, water etc. of our French home yesterday morning and loaded our cases into the car. Rick leapt eagerly into his kennel on the back seat and set off on the longest journey of his little doggy life. He was such a good boy. We stopped for a picnic lunch at midday and he thought it was a great adventure.

We stayed overnight in Paris and took him for a trip up the Eiffel Tower and then a visit to the Folies Bergère. Okay, we didn’t do that, we stayed in our hotel room and ordered room service and watched Jackie, a biography of Jackie Kennedy. I thought it was a really mediocre film.We woke early (why are hotel rooms so hot?) so got up, had breakfast and started the second leg of the journey. Rick behaved impeccably at the pet reception in Calais and his passport passed scrutiny. We drove straight onto an early train (almost empty with only five vehicles) and he seemed totally unfazed as we hurtled into the tunnel for the crossing under the English Channel. We were home by lunchtime.
He is a little bewildered by his new surroundings.
