One of the features that attracted me to the Lansdowne Estate was the extensive landscaping - lots of trees, shrubs and green spaces to give it a sort of village feel. Whilst out walking with Rick this afternoon I was curious to see these signs incongruously posted in one of the green areas, it’s a pretty spot with seats and a decked walkway.

They are more likely to be covering themselves just in casae. It is quite normal now to see signs like this everywhere. We have roadside ones in place on minor roads all winter saying " if icy road may be slippery". I don't know whether these sort of signs let council's off the hook but they are everywhere.

DeleteMy favourite walk along out local ravine includes a sign which says something like "Pathway not maintained. Use other side". Both sides of the ravine are identical!

DeleteIt does make you wonder about the mentality of the average Brit. these days. In days gone by, after a tumble or two, we worked it out for ourselves and didn't need any signs !

DeletePerhaps there should be signs next to all major roads - "No public access. Possibility of fatal collision" or outside all pizza joints - "No public access. Possibility of death through obesity".
ReplyDeleteIt's not even a warning, it's prohibiting public access to a public place.
DeleteThat notice reminds me of several that I saw when walking along a foot path across Dartmoor, except that the notice was facing away from me it said 'Danger beware of unexploded munitions'
