“Shall I get the sun loungers ready for you?”
“I thought we were going out on the bikes.”
“It’s your first day, I thought you’d like to take it easy.”
“I’d really like to go for a bike ride.”
So the four of us set off along the country roads, single
file with Paul out front in the lead. It
was a beautiful, sunny morning and the tree lined roads offered plenty of
shade. As we rounded a bend we saw a
shepherdess come out of the woods with her flock of newly shorn sheep. This is quite a rare sight in these parts and
we slowed down to watch the dogs expertly steer the flock. Suddenly the sheep moved out of the field and
onto the road. We all stopped with the
exception of Paul who got totally swept up into the flock. They careered up the lane eager to get into
their new field on the opposite side.
Paul had no choice but to go with them.
Last time we saw him he was grazing in the middle of the field.
“Shall we have a nice game of croquet tomorrow?”
“No, I want to go canoeing.”
Poor Paul! You just left him in a field with a bunch of sheep? I hope they don't mistake him for a ram.
ReplyDeleteI've re-christened him Shawn.
DeleteOnly one thing to say really. Baa ! :-)
ReplyDeleteHe's getting fed up with the sheep jokes now!
DeleteHaha - poor old Paul - great photo.
ReplyDeleteWe all thought it was hilarious. Still makes me giggle now when I think about it.
DeleteYou're right, not many Sheep around here. I have seen some in St Caprais, and one or two in Frayssinet. More Goats around than Sheep.
ReplyDeleteThis was on the way to St Etienne, quite a big flock.
DeleteI can imagine what was going through the head of the shepherdess - tourists!
ReplyDeleteYup, pretty much.
DeleteDon't those sheep look nice with their laid back ears.
ReplyDeleteHowever long the family is with you, you must keep up. Bikes, canoes, skydiving?
I do my best, but definitely 'no' to the skydiving.
DeleteDear Sue, this made me laugh. Thank you. Enjoy your family.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria x
Happy times x
