Sunny Day

It's been a lovely day with clear, blue skies and a light breeze.  We have made the most of it because the next couple of days are going to be wet and stormy.  I picked another load of plums, de-stoned them and put them in the freezer.  I also made a plum tarte tatin and it came out as a sloppy mess.  Tasted good though.

Paul went to the local farm to buy milk this afternoon.  The milk is unpasteurised and sold in a self-service shack at the entrance to be farm.  I like to use it for making yoghurt, it's more creamy than the supermarket milk.

Apart from doing two loads of washing I've had quite a lazy day, sitting outside reading, playing ball with Rick and just enjoying the sunshine.

These plants are pineapple lilies.  An interesting and structural looking plant, something new this year for our terrace.

  1. Yum to the tarte tatin! An interesting plant for sure. Good Rick is getting his exercise while you lounge about!

  2. The pineapple lilies are exotic and tropical looking. A nice new addition. Rick loves his garden play space. Nice photo, you caught him in full pursuit. The tart looks delicious to me.

    1. Luckily the garden is big enough for him to get a full head of steam when he runs.

  3. Today, here, will be 32 C, and possibly our last swimming day for a while. Temperature will fall to 25 C, and we shall have more rain this coming weekend. Your Plum Tatin looks good, Lady M made one recently; it was delicious.

  5. Love the action shot of Rick! From his antics he so reminds me of our third dog Duke (the one who wasn't a Labrador!) although he's nothing like him in looks. He was always guaranteed to raise a smile and had endless energy even in old age!
Hot and sunny here, of course, and yesterday afternoon the outdoor thermometer registered 46ºC (110ºF) in the sun! With temperatures that high, unless you're on holiday it's either best to be in the pool, or indoors with either a fan or air-con. on.
That plum Tarte Tatin looks good, and reminds me I have some apples in the fridge that I could do with using up. I have a simple Sainsbury's recipe for the traditional version, and might have a go.

    1. The tarte should have been more caramelised but the plums produced too much juice I think.

  6. Beautiful day here too and within my limits I gardened too. This morning it is pouring with rain and has cleaned up my gardening beautifully.
