The quote for the new bathroom arrived yesterday, eye wateringly expensive but an essential part of the re-modelling process for the bungalow; work will commence in the New Year. I don’t have any new internal doors yet but we have bought the handles! Hopefully the carpenter will come and fit the doors some time next month.
I love my new handles |

The smartest room in the house at the moment is the utility/boot room. Paul quickly covered up the dark blue walls with a coat of magnolia and built a bench. Somewhere to sit and put on our muddy boots and wipe muddy paws.
Accent? What Lincolnshire accent?
ReplyDeleteOkay, I know it's me who has the accent!
DeleteI am sure there must be variations of it throughout the county but I just listened to a clip on Radio Lincolnshire and it sounded quite Northern to me. The man was talking about going for his vittels and the interviewer said it must be a made up word and he didn't know what he was talking about. We also use the word here, vittels, dinner, or for everybody else, lunch. So enjoy your vittels Sue.
ReplyDeleteI thought everyone used the word vittels. To me, the local accent around here sounds very different to Yorkshire Dales dialect.
DeleteAgree, didn't sound like Yorkshire Dales but generally sounded definitely north of the Wash.
DeleteIs that a form of "victuals"? I've heard that used to mean food or a meal.
DeleteAre you trying be clever?
DeleteSmart bench (with storage baskets fitting under). Is there anything that Paul does not tackle - other than bathroom installation? In the day my husband did three new bathrooms for us plumbing and tiling. He drew the line here in France though.
ReplyDeleteHe's not into crochet or ballroom dancing but he has built a few bathrooms. This time we're going to let someone else do it.
Deletehttps://youtu.be/18GpxVCW8eg, I always like to learn more:).
ReplyDeleteCan you understand it Yael?
DeleteI have to look at it again, i don't think i can understand it.
DeletePaws for thought...you have muddy paws? Until now I thought you had hands. No wonder Paul has so many jobs to do.
ReplyDeleteI have clauses on my pauses.
DeleteGlad you are getting used to the Lincolnshire accent. After over fifty years away from the county of my birth I think I have more or less lost it.
ReplyDeleteOur plumber had a very broad accent. Spoke a lot about 'watter'.
