I have been very busy today packing and preparing stuff in readiness for our road trip back to the UK tomorrow. Rick has just been down to the vets to get his passport stamped.
Sometimes life here can be quite hectic - constant maintenance of the house, looking after the garden and potager, cooking, cleaning, occasional entertaining, dog walking, cycling etc and generally I think we cope pretty well. But after watching Escape to the Chateau last night I feel totally inadequate. In addition to running a wedding businesss from their chateau Dick and Angel also had time to convert a stable into a flat for mum and dad, build a glamping pod on a pontoon, cultivate a huge kitchen garden, make jam and sew designer pillow cases. They always have a smile on their faces and there is never a cross word between them. Amazing! I thought I was doing well this morning char grilling peppers, boiling beetroot, throwing Rick's ball and chatting to my daughter on WhatsApp all at the same time!

You are doing well! They have got a paid team of 'chefs', and other 'bodies' to help as well as the film crew to edit out the bad language. If my memory is correct they do not have a dog - so who has the better life?ReplyDelete
Oh my goodness, they don't have a dog? Well, we clearly have the better life.Delete
You are doing amazing. And have a safe trip! :)ReplyDelete
All these things that Dick and Angel are doing are on going and not done in a day so don't worry. I managed to drive to the station, catch a train, walk to the cinema and watch a film today. That's my day over and now I am watching football. Nothing at all will be done in the house. That's it. Over. Finished. Oh and I have seen Angel and Dick have cross words. More than once. He was livid with her when he was reversing the bus into place, and he really was and couldn't speak to her after, and she knew it.ReplyDelete
That bus rolling into the building was an 'ouch' moment, reminded me of when I left the handbrake off the car and it rolled down our driveway and demolished our neighbour's wall.Delete
Ha ha. However, I mean the bit when he was reversing the "bar" into place by the wall ready for the wedding and Angel was supposed to be directing him. He got very angry.Delete
Nice picture of you and Paul at the top. When did he grow that grey squirrel moustache and when did you dye your hair ginger? If I might be so bold, the ginger doesn't really suit you.ReplyDelete
I'll have to change the hair dye then.Delete
Don't worry - we're not all fantastic at multi-tasking !ReplyDelete
I'm catching up on blogs while waiting for Escape to the Chateau to begin. I think tonight's episode it the very first one, so I've some catching up to do ! I noticed that in last night's episode, Angel's hair was the most astonishing shade of red - practically fluorescent ! I also think that Angel has Dick well trained....!
He is very, um, tolerant.Delete
Well Sue, I thought I was doing well but reading what you did today puts me to shame ... and I don't have a dog! :)ReplyDelete
Have a good trip x
Greetings Maria x
As was suggested above, I quite expect they have an army of 'out of sight' helpers who do a lot of the work; as of course do both you and me!ReplyDelete
The thing is Cro, Dick may have loads of helpers but Dick can actually do the work himself. It says a great deal for an army career.Delete
I rather liked his original TV programme where he made all sorts of Heath Robinson contraptions from scrap. They all worked too.Delete
I adore those two Strawbridges. I was going to be very jealous when I saw the photo at the top, as I thought you had actually met them!! (Yes he was very cross when Angel was directing the bus, but normally he is very calm and loving.....I would have him! )ReplyDelete
I'm first Frances!!Delete
