We crossed the old suspension bridge across the muddy expanse of the River Severn and then turned right and headed north towards the Forest of Dean. This is the leafy land of hobbits and elves, wild boar and beavers. Abandoned mines and quite a few medieval castles dotted about too. Not forgetting the beautiful Wye Valley that meanders its way along the far side of the forest.
We arrived early for the viewing and explored the local area. Paul even accosted a dog walker to ask about suitable walks for Rick. Of course the forest is famous for its cycle trails and hiking.
The estate agent told us there had been a lot of interest in the property and second viewings were booked for the weekend. No doubt a very clever sales tactic but we always make decisions quickly so we made an offer there and then. It just felt right. I can’t resist amazing views. The house is lovely too. I’m already itching to paint over that pink wall.
Kat is disappointed that we are not buying the Gothic mansion in Grimsby but in the end we have made a sensible choice. Apart from the fact that it’s half way up a very steep hill and the garden is quite small...
somewhere amongst those trees |
So pleased it is all working out. At least the search is over so that is one weight off your mind.
ReplyDeleteIt is a relief to have found somewhere we both like.
DeleteWonderful! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jennifer. I am very excited about it.
DeleteWell done you two! Fingers crossed it will all work out and in a few months you will be clutching the keys. Any area that is rich in wild beavers has my vote.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know we had wild beavers in the UK. Introduced to stop the flooding apparently.
DeleteGlad to hear that it's going well - and what glorious countryside!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful surroundings! I can't wait to see some pictures. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteIt was all about the location in the end.
DeleteThis is all so exciting for you! Can't wait to see the pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt is very exciting.

ReplyDeleteYes, there's a lot of stuff to get through before we get our hands on those keys.
DeleteThank God for that. x
ReplyDeleteYou'll be able to go to the races.
DeleteYou relieved it's not Norfolk? You had a lucky escape!
DeleteI don't know why you keep saying that. Why would I fear you? Except as a neighbour with a dog barking which I would not want, nothing else.
DeleteJust joking, I'm disappointed you're not my neighbour, I think we could have had a laugh together.
DeleteFrom the photo, it looks like a fabulous position. A new home is always great fun; you'll be dreaming of colours and designs for weeks on end. Congrats.
ReplyDeleteIn the end it was all about the location. Lovely views but a steep hill to climb!
DeleteWith your good taste you will in no time turn the house into a beautiful home. Congratulations for the hard work on the selling and buying.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria x
I've already re-designed it several times over. It's like having a new toy!
