Back to the Chateau

We arrived home just after midday.  The French roads were a joy after getting stuck in traffic for over two hours in Sussex and missing our train yesterday.  The lawns have turned into meadows, the courtyard is full of weeds and there was a dead mouse in the kitchen sink.  We flung open the shutters, vacuumed the dead flies and unloaded the car.  Then we poured a glass of wine each and enjoyed the afternoon sunshine on the terrace.  It’s good to be back.

Rick is one very happy dog.

  1. The wisteria is gorgeous. I'm curious - how do you get to your home in France? -Jenn

  2. I'm also curious...how long does the journey take, door to door? What's your wine of choice? I have been trying a Merlot this week and it is seriously yummy.

    1. I like anything red and fruity! Malbec is the local grape here. I'll write about our journey on my next post.

  4. Welcome home. Still plenty of sunshine around until next weekend, then some very welcome rain (I hope). Get that grass cut whilst it's dry. I'm putting my Tom's in today!

    1. I slept so well last night Rachel. Although that might have been due to the amount of wine I drank!

  7. Interesting that you call it home.....!
Glad you had a good journey and all is well - apart from the missed train, flies and the dead mouse. Now you can relax and enjoy your summer. Can imagine how delighted Rick is to run around off his lead again.
