On Her Way Home

Kat is currently travelling at 514 knots per hour, 30,000 feet above the Great Victoria Desert of Western Australia heading for Doha.  If all goes well she should be landing at London Heathrow early tomorrow morning.

We are very relieved that her Qatar Airways flight was not cancelled after so many people have been stranded.  Although her sister would have gladly accommodated her for a longer period she needs to get back to RAF Brize Norton where she will be part of a busy team keeping the transport aircraft flying.

The timing of her holiday was perhaps a little unfortunate, Kat and her sister Sarah have spent her final week indoors drinking cocktails and watching a lot of Netflix.  But at least they had a wonderful camping trip and managed to enjoy going out and about to bars and restaurants in Sydney during her first week.

I don’t know when we will see Kat next.  (We haven’t seen her since last October before she was posted to Cyprus.)  It could be months before we are reunited.  It looks like we shall be looking after Jeremiah for a little longer than planned.

  1. What a relief that Kat is on her way back! Next time she sees her mum and dad they'll have zimmer frames or mobility scooters to get around and mum will keep saying "It weren't like this when I were young...".

  2. I don't suppose Jeremiah will complain - he's got a very cushy pad with you, even if he is possibly now relegated to a cupboard. The Tang horse is so much nicer, and in keeping with your lovely décor.
Glad to hear that Kat is homeward bound, and hope that she will be OK.

    1. Jeremiah is happily perched on the dressing table in Kat's bedroom at the moment, just waiting for her.

  3. I am glad Kat is able to get back to her job. I noticed a few planes flying into Heathrow and Gatwick on my flight app. It is reassuring for her to know she can get back to work, I am sure she knows she is needed and that is what she would want to be doing. xx

    1. I just hope she doesn't pick up the virus on her flight. The plane is packed apparently.

  4. Is Jeremiah smiling?? Curious, will she be required to self-isolate for two weeks first before she's back to her work? Glad that she was able to get a flight! It sounds like she had some quality time with her sister. -Jenn

    1. It's more of a snarl than a smile. Not sure if the RAF will require her to self-isolate for two weeks or not. They well might do unless they can test her.

  5. I am sure you will be relieved to have her back in this country and at least Jeremiah doesn't need walking every day.

  6. I'm afraid I can't warm to Jeremiah. Relegating him to Kat's room was a good idea.

  7. Oh, that's good news. Just in the nick of time, too, if you are to see the news here today regarding our new round of isolation enforcements. I think everyone in the forces is going to be pretty busy for ages!

  8. There are noticeably fewer vapour trails in the sky these days. Flying over these parts seems to have ground to a halt. Will she have to self-isolate when she gets back? I presume she will.

    1. I think she will but I don't know what the RAF regulations on base are. She will be high risk after travelling on a crowded plane.
