Sardines on Toast

This morning we dusted off our bicycles and set off for an early ride, only to do a quick u-turn and head for home as another storm blew in.  I decided to catch up on some housework instead and sent Paul and Rick outside while I swept and vacuumed.

We had sardines on toast for lunch, embellished with onion marmalade and herb salsa (are you sure I can’t tempt you Rachel?).

The stormy morning turned into a beautiful afternoon and we took Rick out for a walk along a hidden valley that we had never explored before.  I’ll tell you about the walk tomorrow, it’s time for my dinner now, Paul has cooked paella.

  1. I could eat it but without the onion marmalade and herb salsa(?). We enjoyed our sausage and mash just now.

    1. It's the sweet onion marmalade and garlicky herb dressing that make it for me. In fact they would probably work with sausage and mash too!

  2. That's an idea. I have half a jar of onion marmalade (I like it as a topping for goat's cheese) which I need to use up before I move. I might try it on sardines.

  4. That looks delicious, but I think I'll wait for the paella.

  5. Your two lads sitting on the naughty step. Most fellows know that feeling. But at least they didn't have to listen to the tortuous sound of the vacuum cleaner!

    1. Ha-ha, definitely the naughty step. They're both a bit scared of the vacuum cleaner.

    2. Whatever do you mean? Just think Doris Day lookalike with floral dress, frilly pinafore and high heels.

  6. I love tinned sardines, and always buy them in multi packs (Leclerc). In fact I love all tinned fish.

I was banished to Haddock's yesterday, for the same reason.
