The bedroom makeover is complete and I’m very pleased with the overall effect. It has a much lighter French Provençal style now. We left the wardrobe untouched so the room doesn’t look over co-ordinated. The only thing I’m not happy about is the orangey pine picture frames so we are going to experiment with some dark wax and gold paint.
Not a bad transformation for the price of a pot of chalk paint. (Autentico Vintage Dark Pepper)
The real Provencal style is probably floral wallpaper all over everything including the doors and ceiling and different floral curtains and red and white paint and curtains round the dressing table. However, your version of it is very nice.
ReplyDeleteYes, you're right, those papered ceilings are incredible. I suppose they hide the cracks. My bedspread is floral.
DeleteYus! Very smart and well staged with hat and newspaper! Personally I think a dog central on the bed would look good.
ReplyDeleteHe was posing in front of the bed but he moved!
DeleteWow, what a difference a little paint can make.
ReplyDeleteIt was so quick too, no sanding down or prep needed.
DeleteSuch a difference! I love the color you chose. What brand of chalk paint did you use?
ReplyDeleteThis was Autentico Vintage although Paul says he prefers to work with Annie Sloan paints.
DeleteOo la la! C'est magnifique! Maintenant une salle jolie! Tres bien Monsieur Paul!
ReplyDeleteMerci Monsieur Pudding.
DeleteIt looks absolutely lovely and so cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pat.
DeleteLovely colour. It always makes heavy furniture look light.
ReplyDeleteThe room looks so much bigger now.
DeleteLove it !
ReplyDeleteThanks Helsie.
DeleteWhat a transformation! It looks very elegant and inviting. More power to Paul's paintbrush - what's his project?
ReplyDeleteI do like the sound of those chalk paints, not something I've been aware of until you mentioned them.
I've spent hours layering white paint onto our hideous orangey solid pine wardrobe doors in the old part of our house. I'll have to look out for this type of paint in future. I wonder if they sell it at Leroy Merlin? They've just opened a superstore about 45 minutes drive away.
I don't think the big stores stock Annie Sloan or Autentico, you tend to find them in smaller shops. I love the fact you can paint straight on to any surface.
