Lighten Up
The Tour de France has finished so Paul is restless and looking for his next project. After his success with the red dresser he was itching to get his hands on some more chalk paint and wax.
Our guest bedroom on the ground floor is furnished with brown furniture; we inherited it with the house. It is reproduction, traditional style complete with sleigh bed. Paul has always had a particular dislike of the sleigh bed. In a careless moment I said he could do what he liked with the room and before I could blink he had sawn the end off the bed.
It is a work in progress. Rick has been helping.

I never think those beds are particularly attractive so I am with Paul in sawing off that end. The room looks nicely colour co-ordinated with blue cover and matching pictures.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are looking too overpowering with the new colour scheme, I might have to change them.
DeleteLove the way they call those a sleigh bed! Interesting to see the changes.
ReplyDeleteI was rather fond of the sleigh bed but it does make the room appear bigger.
DeleteOh the things we say in weak moments. Our cat usually helps out on household projects, she's particularly fond of ladders.
ReplyDeleteRick's tail makes a good brush.
DeleteIt's a shame that guests will no longer sleep in a sleigh bed, fantasising about trips to Lapland with Santa. Is Paul the new Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen?
ReplyDeleteI suppose I could have put a couple of stuffed reindeer in front of the bed but our guests used to complain that the footboard stopped them from hanging their feet out over the mattress. I can't imagine Paul wearing frilly sleeves.
DeleteYour room looked lovely with the sleigh bed but I do like to hang my feet over the end when sleeping.
ReplyDeleteIt did look nice but it was time for a change.
DeleteI prefer open ended beds; I like to stick my feet out!
ReplyDeleteYup, most guys say the same thing.
DeleteHas Paul got any ideas on what he'll do with the end he sawed off? Presume Rick went out for the beer!
ReplyDeleteHe's chopped it up for firewood.
DeleteI can't quite see, did he take the horse/reindeer end off of the sleigh as well as the feet end?
ReplyDeleteThe only remaining bits of the bed are the mattress base and the top headboard. Paul had to make new feet for the bed.
