Who

Sarah is driving all the way to Nottingham tonight for a concert.

"I'm going to see the Who."

"What, with Roger Daltrey?"

"Who?"

"Yes, the Who.  You know, they sang Pinball Wizard and My Generation."

"No, not the Who, the Hu."

"Who are the Hu?"

"They are a Mongolian Rock Band."

"Ah, I see.  Not Roger Daltrey then."

"No mum."

So I googled the Hu and found this -  The Hu is a Mongolian folk metal band formed in 2016. With traditional Mongolian instrumentation, including the Morin khuur, the Tovshuur, and Mongolian throat singing, the band calls their style of music "hunnu rock", hu inspired by the Hunnu, an ancient Mongol/Turkic empire, known as Hünnü in Mongolia. There you have it.  Sounds quite intriguing; I would have gone with her but it's a standing audience only.

  1. That's so interesting! I had not heard of them before but I like the unusual instruments they play. I will have to share with my son who plays heavy metal music...

  2. The "Hu" is new to me too. I listened to "The Rumble of Thunder" on Sound Cloud and then on to other pieces. Very ethereal sound. Loved it. I usually do not care for metal/rock. If they come to Boston, I'm going...

    1. It seems to me that these rock venues don't usually have seating so I can't imagine going to one of their concerts.

  3. I just listened to their u tube video Yuve Yuve Yu an unusual sound but quite pleasant. It has subtitles which are interesting. Don't think I could cope with it live up close.

  4. No, I've never heard of them either, but will listen to them later. Standing room only guarantees that none of us oldies go to their concerts, then moan all the way home about how awful they were!

    1. I think the 'standing' environment allows them to dance too.
