Oh Christmas Tree

I asked for a small tree this year but Paul and Sarah came home with a seven footer; I decided to put it up in the hallway this year; it's quite dark and Narnia like against the woodland background.  Apart from the tree and a wreath by the front door I am not doing any other Christmas decorations.

So nice to have Sarah at home again this Christmas.  This time last year we were on tenterhooks wondering if she would manage to get a flight home from Oz and pass all the Covid checks.  It's just a shame that Kat can't be here with us but we shall celebrate with her when she gets some leave in late January.

Rick helped Sarah decorate the tree.  He is good at things like that.  (Rick is the one on the right.)

  1. Your house is spacious enough to accommodate that tree very easily. It wouldn't really work in our small semi. Sarah looks like a ballerina!

  2. Very nice! Yes, that's too bad you can't have both girls at home. Animal helpers are necessary at Christmas time. I'm sure he did a good job! -Jenn

    1. He's a good boy, he doesn't steal the decorations but watches very closely.

  3. Your Christmas tree is beautiful. Sarah and Paul chose a nicely shaped tree. I am partial to tall trees. Rick looks quite happy supervising. Will Rick wear a red collar for Christmas?

    1. He doesn't like dressing up although he might wear a paper hat during dinner.

  4. I've always wanted a home with an entrance hall big enough for a huge tree, and room for a dozen carol singers, who would later be offered hot mulled wine and mince pies. Sadly it hasn't happened (so far).

    1. It would be a bit of a squeeze getting a dozen people in our hall!

  5. Love your tree - it goes well in front of the trees on the wall. Good for Rick - he did an excellent job of supervising. One of our Labs used to walk backwards and forwards in front of the tree, and then run off with the particular decoration he decided he liked. That was when I changed all the decorations to plastic - we caught him trying to eat a glass ball!
Very minimalist decorations here - just two Christmas cards on the coffee table so far.

    1. Our old Airedale used to steal small gifts left under the tree and then discard them after ripping the paper off. She used to get so excited, knowing that she would have a new football to unwrap every Christmas.
