Skinny 'Orse

Sorry to disappoint you all but it's not a Rampant Rick or a Reindeer.  It's a Skinny 'Orse!

'Orse is skinny and has a stumpy tail because I ran out of clay.  And his head has dropped.    Maybe he will look better after I've painted him.  More mule than thoroughbred I think.

  1. He reminds me of a newborn horse. I look forward to seeing him painted.

    1. He does look a bit unsteady on his legs like a young foal.

  2. He is very good. It is a bit difficult to get the right idea of scale from your photographs, I think I was imagining life size at one point yesterday but now I am thinking differently.

    1. I didn't have enough clay for a life size horse! I'm guessing he's about 8 inches high (or two hands in horse language).

  3. Some of the horses that are used in the game of Polo have seemed to be that skinny. I have often said that the Animal Welfare group ought to be notified. But, not for a clay one!

    1. Ideally I would have made him plumper.

  5. Too bad you can't bob the nose for some horse power . . . . but, better than anything I could make!!

  6. Come on; admit it. It's Rick that went wrong and ended-up looking like a horse!!!

    1. No, no, that's not true! Rick doesn't look anything like a horse.

  7. Sue, that's great, it's a remarkable improvement over the King's Head! You are learning fast and your next project, if you buy more clay, will be even better.
What about a model of Rick next time - you can bribe him with treats to sit still!

    1. Rick can't sit still for more than five seconds. I might take up macrame instead.

    2. I've done macramé - amazing what you can produce with a ball of string!

  8. I like the delicate way in which the horse's right front hoof is touching the ground. Did you need to create a wire scaffold to build him?...Time to order some more clay. Artistic ladies don't need fancy perfume or lingerie for Christmas. They need clay.

    1. I need both! Yes, I used chicken wire for an armature.
