Windy Day

The wind is gusting this afternoon and causing some damage in the garden.  The lupins and foxgloves were completely snapped off.  I don't often pick flowers from the garden but I gathered a few roses and a hydrangea head to keep them company in the vase.

Our apple and plum trees are laden with unripe fruit at the moment, I fear that this wind will break a few branches.  Well that's nature and the weather isn't it?

  1. I bring in flowers when they get snapped too. Your vase of flowers is quite beautiful.

  2. Just the same here too. I have so many herbaceous plants just about to come out and it has laid them flat - a combination of hail and strong winds. I hate to see them staked and tied up - I prefer a natural look but dare not go out and see what they are like after today.

    1. It's sad to see the big blooms getting battered by the wind.

  4. That hydrangea is gorgeous! I had one delphinium knocked down by rain, but the rest are o.k. Peonies are of course, "bedraggled" by rain, but still pretty. I'm terrible at arranging flowers in a vase! -Jenn

  6. The flowers look lovely, and I love the colour co-ordination.
I don't have many flowers in the garden, mostly shrubs where the blooms look better left in situ.

    1. I've had to add a few more refugees from the garden today, this wind is relentless.
