September 2018, the day we arrived at our new home |
The poor old dilapidated seat next to the apple tree did not survive the winter storms. Paul did try to save it by fixing the roof but the wood was very rotten and in the end we decided to replace it with a new Lutyens style seat.
It looks very clean and new but the pigeons will soon take care of that. (The apple tree is Golden Delicious.)
I love the new seat.

ReplyDeleteThanks Carol.
DeleteSir Edwin Landseer Lutyens designed The Cenotaph in Whitehall and The Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi. It was nice of him to find the time to design your lovely new garden bench or as the pigeons call it - "the target".
ReplyDeleteThere is a whole area in New Delhi known as Lutyens Delhi. Incredible that he had time to design my bench.
DeleteWell, he knew you'd appreciate it!
DeleteCan't wait to come and see it, hopefully it won't be too much longer! ðŸ˜
ReplyDeleteYou can sit in the garden with Rick and we'll just stay indoors!
DeleteI have one too, but mine is now very grey, and showing signs of lichens.
ReplyDeleteI think ours will look better when it has weathered slightly.
DeleteIt's lovely, and my favourite style for garden seats. Why no picture of the proud new owners and their pooch?
ReplyDeleteDidn't want to spoil the look of the seat!
DeleteI like your new garden bench. I bought a bench which was installed in a park in honor of my husband, when he died in 2016. There is something about a bench which is welcoming.
ReplyDeleteThank you Terra. We liked the old blue seat but it was beyond repair and it's nice to have something that is our own.
