Summertime and the living is easy! We are enjoying this beautiful weather (although Paul would like rain for his garden). This morning we went for a 25 km bike ride and the cycling conditions were perfect. We were even entertained by the Red Arrows painting pictures in the sky overhead.
Cycling has been a bit difficult because of my painful knee that I twisted after my pathetic attempt at decorating some weeks ago. Earlier this week I was slouching in front of the television and I gave a lazy stretch. There was an ominous crack, loud enough to frighten Rick who shot under the table. “That was your knee,” Paul said, “are you okay?” I moved my leg gingerly and said “Yes, it still works.” Funnily enough my knee has felt a lot better since, I think something may have clicked back into place.
We have been sitting outside on the terrace a great deal and I cannot resist the temptation to have a glass of something long and cool in my hand. Yesterday I decided to use up some coconut milk and made myself a pina colada. Except I didn’t have a pineapple so I used a banana and I didn’t have any rum so I used vodka. And I didn’t have an umbrella to stick in the glass either. So it wasn’t exactly a pina colada but it tasted okay!
Our dentist rang earlier today to postpone our next week scheduled appointments. The week just gets better and better.
When I read "dentist" I was actually hoping that you said the dentist had said your appointment would go ahead. It is so important to get dentists re-opened.
ReplyDeleteI think they will re-open soon. I'm just a wimp and felt relieved that my check-up has been postponed because I know I'm going to need a big filling.
DeleteYou certainly moved to the right county for your cycling. Glad you are enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteI don't miss climbing hills but I do miss free-wheeling down them! Flat terrain keeps you pedalling all the time.
DeleteNo it is not a pina colada, it is just an excuse for getting squiffy in the middle of the day. Good job Paul is keeping an eye on you. I wish I could see a dentist as a back filling fell out a month ago.
ReplyDeleteIt was a sloe gin and tonic today. This weather demands lunchtime drinks.
Delete25 km! you Need good fitness for that. How wonderful.
ReplyDeletePaul keeps urging me to go further and faster. I just want to amble gently along looking at the scenery.
DeleteI miss my bike; I stupidly gave it to a friend after my knee problem, and I think he's allowed it to rust and rot. I first tasted Pina Coladas out in the Cayman Islands in 1980-ish... they became addictive.
ReplyDeleteI had my very first Pina Colada in Tobago just a few years ago.
DeleteI'm just considering buying an exercise bike. A friend is selling one that she bought a few months ago, hasn't used, and has now decided she wants something fancier. For me it would be better than a "proper" bike because the hills around here are steep, and I wouldn't manage them! It's often an effort just walking up them.
ReplyDeleteStrange that I rarely sit outside to eat these days, yet looking at your lovely photos, I feel I should do - the weather is glorious. Possibly something to do with there just being me and the dog these days! It's not the same without human company.
I love eating outside but it doesn't happen too often for me in the UK. I used to have an exercise bike but found it too boring. Cycling is good exercise though.
DeleteLove that X - that is something that could send your imagination soaring as to why it is there. Our perfect outside eating weather ended this week, but it seemed to last longer in years past so I cannot complain. Perhaps it really didn't, and it only seemed so in the Great Confinement. We've been enjoying quite a lot of chilled white wine on the porch.
ReplyDeleteOur RAF display team are based nearby and are always drawing pictures in the sky. Yesterday it was a heart! Our warm weather has come to an abrupt halt, I hope it's only temporary.
