A Sunday in February

A robin was bobbing around outside my window in the sunshine this morning.  I grabbed my camera but of course he had disappeared by the time I got back.  These guys posed for me instead.

This side.....

....or this side?

me too

The sun is shining but the wind is bitterly cold.  We got caught in a brief snow shower while out with Rick.  His coat is thick and he doesn’t seem to notice the cold.

Back indoors and watching the winter Olympics.  Those guys must be crazy to launch themselves down an icy chute at breakneck speeds sitting on nothing more than a tin tray. They look a bit like demented seals as they use their hands like flippers to propel themselves at the top of the run. The German favourite makes a mistake on the final run and misses out on a medal.

  1. February is nearly always the worst month of winter here in the east. We have had snow, hail, sleet and bitter winds today.

I am enjoying the cross country skiing and seeing a new meaning to peloton, peloton crashes and sprints, all on skis.

    1. I hadn't thought of it like that before. They do look ungainly when they're climbing though.

  3. Nice pictures! Our weather here is snow, snow, and more snow. I am amazed at the thrill seeking sports, as I've never been a risk taker myself. -Jenn

    1. We rarely get any proper snow here. The only risk I take is going down hill at great speed on my bicycle and hoping a deer doesn't jump out.

    1. The top bird is a blackbird and the other one is a chaffinch.

  8. I like watching The Summer Olympics but in my humble opinion The Winter Olympics speak more loudly of western privilege and affluence.

    1. Huh? I thought it was just about ice, snow and bobsleighs.

    2. The British snowboarder was a skateboader in the park whose mother saw a free snowboard lesson advertised in the local paper on the dry slope in Sheffield. He was a lovely ordinary boy.

  9. He is much handsomer than the birds and from the look on his face he knows it.
