No, not me but the flowers in the garden. Yesterday’s intense heat has scorched the red
climbing rose on the barn wall, the hydrangeas and the sempervivum on the
rockery. No doubt they will all recover
but it’s rather sad when the flower heads are hit when they are in full bloom.
We managed a few hours sitting outside in the shade this
morning. Cool drinks helped. I was feeling very relaxed and soporific when
I suddenly heard a curious popping sound behind me. I was mystified. This noise continued sporadically. I can only assume it was the decorative pine
cones from my fernery opening and ejecting seeds in the heat of the day.
This afternoon we are hiding indoors until things cool down. I have offered to clear up the lunch things
if Paul will complete my tax return.
Fair exchange I reckon.
You can collect the pine nuts and patiently (lots of patient) crack them open to put in pesto.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria x
Welcome back Maria, we have been worried about you. Hope you are OK now. I'm not sure I have enough patience to crack the pine nuts although I love pesto.
DeleteThank you Sue xxx
DeleteOne of my small Pear trees looked a bit 'crunchy' yesterday; I hope I wasn't too late with the watering.
ReplyDeleteI forgot about the indoor plants and they all had to have an emergency dunking. They have perked up today. Sort of like people with pools?
DeleteAmazing how quickly plants can recover after some water. I perk up quite a lot after emergency drinking.
DeleteI have only managed to water the veg plot and container plants. Everything is starting to look rather forlorn, rather like me, I droop too in hot weather.
ReplyDeleteIt's getting very humid and stormy here. Not pleasant at all. I think I might have a siesta.
DeleteI am so happy in the hot weather here. I don't have anything to water, I just let the roses get on with it. Paul is commenting on my blog. Do you have separate blogging habits?
ReplyDeleteMost definitely! He's not really into this blogging lark and rarely comments but he likes your cycling blogs.
