On your marks, get set, go!

The house and garden projects are underway.  The curtain fabric is cut and pattern matched, some seams have been sewn.  Meanwhile, in the garden, Paul has put up the willow hurdles and fixed the metal archway in place.

I think the garden project will be finished before my curtains.  Not that we are competing against each!

  1. You are brave taking on such a big curtain project. I love the shots of Rick helping with the garden project.

    1. Rick has been assisting Paul, demanding many throws of his tennis ball.

  4. Great progress on both projects. Your fencing and archway looks lovely. Willow hurdles are new to me. How do you fix them to the ground and each other?

    1. They are just tied onto wooden posts, you can use garden twine but Paul cheated and used brown plastic cable ties.

  5. Those hurdles are very nice and rustic. I think Rick approves.

    1. Paul insisted on getting hurdles and actually I think they blend in quite well.

  6. I remember the fun of making curtains - a long time ago.
I don't even know of anywhere to go and look at curtain material anymore whereas there are so many more places that sell curtains

    1. So many fabric shops have closed down in recent years. I used to love wandering along the aisles and looking at all the different fabrics, checking out for that bargain end of roll!

  7. Wow - you have both been busy!
It's a long time since I made any curtains, although I still have fabric bought years ago, and never made up. It's more traditional here for filmy curtains rather than heavier fabric. I miss the selection of fabric that I had in the UK, it was so much better than here - or perhaps just more to my taste.
I like the idea of the hurdles and archway - what a good idea to hide an unsightly corner.
Will Rick be allowed to "christen" them?

    1. He's probably already christened them!

  8. I remember my Mum measuring, pattern matching and cutting curtains on the floor as the table was not large enough. No wonder that the skill has slipped a generation. And The Dog would want to 'help'.

    1. My kitchen island was a huge help, it was so much easier than crawling around on the floor.
