Junk Mail

Junk mail is a bit annoying at the best of times but this morning’s selection that plopped through the letter box was a grim reminder that I’m getting old.  I’m not sure how direct marketing companies choose their target recipients but I’m really not ready for this …

funeral plans, incontinence pads and residential homes

I made the most of this lovely warm weather earlier, the forecast is for cooler weather tomorrow.  Fetched myself a cold beer and stretched out on my lounger on the terrace to enjoy the sunshine.  Rick thought it was a good idea and decided to join me.  He's quite heavy for a small dog.

  1. Throw those away!! We don't have any kind of "Alexa" type devices here, but sometimes it's a little creepy how ads come up on the computer about things we've been discussing. I don't know who's listening! Does Rick realize his size? -Jenn

  2. We have also started getting similar junk mail which is a bit disconcerting. Rick looks bigger in that photo than I thought he was.

    1. A lot of Rick is fluff but I did feel a bit crushed!

  3. This seems to be an era of junk mail and scam phone calls. Every day, I see 8-10 phone calls on my answering system from people I do not know and most are selling something. Rick is very loving and he clearly wants to be close to you. Sweet boy.

  4. I do not receive these items in my mail. I receive offers about food deals from the Co-op etc. I feel quite lucky after seeing your selection. I received a scam email this week telling me my car wasn't taxed and it purported to come from the DVLA and wanted my bank details. I knew it was a scam so deleted it. I have also received some of the bank message scams going around at the moment saying I have a transaction that needs authorising. These also get deleted immediately. It is a tricky world for those not on the ball.

    1. There is so much scamming out there. The scammers know that if they target enough people sooner or later someone will take their bait. I'm over suspicious, I deleted a genuine message from a delivery company last week!

  5. Junk mail; junk email.. just junk it I guess. I rather like the stuff which is so way off - in a sense it makes me laugh. I live in a former pub and regularly get booze related stuff - and yet I don't drink!

    1. All goes straight into the bin. My email is set up to automatically dump all the junk. Fancy living in a pub and not drinking!

  6. Most of my junk mail is from real estate agents wanting to help me sell my house - for which they would receive a healthy commission, no doubt! Sorry, guys, I'm not downsizing any time soon!

    1. I think it must be because we live in a bungalow and they think we are very elderly.

  7. Having watched some afternoon TV over the winter, I was shocked by all the ad's for such things. It was as if they imagined everyone was waiting outside the graveyard.

    1. Afternoon television advertising does seem to target a certain age group, they seem to think we all want to go on a river cruise.

  8. You're lucky that Rick doesn't weigh as much as Inca - she'd flatten anyone!
I don't get much junk mail, thank goodness, as I don't have a post box at the moment. I do get scam calls, and if I don't recognise the number, I don't answer it.
Have you noticed how many requests there are for money these days? Asking for donations to support just about every charity on the planet. I started to make a list of each amount to determine just how much it would cost if we gave to each one. I gave up, as the list seemed never ending, and some wanted considerably more than a pound or two.

    1. It's a money grabbing world out there. Seems to me that a lot of money collected for well known charities goes towards some very big salaries.

  9. Clearly, Rick loves his mummy. What's that white thing at the bottom of the second picture? It looks like a dolphin's snout.
