Rick

This is the reason for all the frantic fence and gate building.  We have finally taken the plunge and adopted this cute little fella.

Rick is a four year old Labrit (Pyrénéen herd dog) cross who is looking for a new home after being abandoned at a dog refuge.  He is absolutely adorable but likes to chase and bark at cars and bicycles.  Not many cars or cyclists (apart from ourselves) around here, just the occasional tractor but we need to make our courtyard escape proof.

Thea and Marie Christine, two lovely ladies from the adoption agency, came to check us out today and it appears that we meet their requirements.  We collect him on Friday.  I can’t wait to give him the loving home that he deserves.

    1. He's had a sad life so far (tied up outside) but he seems a very happy and friendly dog.

    1. There are so many that need homes, it seems to be the right thing to do.

  4. Aaaah - he's gorgeous !
What will he do when you go on your intrepid cycle marathons? Will he stay at home, or travel in one of those little buggies that Paul can attach to the back of his bike? Or just chase behind...
Have you told Buddy he's got a little cousin?

    1. We might have to do solo bike rides until we feel sure he is happy to be left for an hour or two. Paul was looking at those buggies earlier!

  5. I thought the new gates reflected growing anxiety about a possible terrorist assault on Chez Sue et Paul. Though not a dog lover, I applaud you for sourcing your little fellow from an adoption agency. I hope he brings you a lot of joy.

    1. Thank you Mr Pudding, it's a new challenge for us. Two walks a day, it will keep Paul fit!

    2. Hang on Madame. The dog is called Rick, not Paul.

  8. Our Bok barks at cars and post-ladies, but as he's so friendly no-one really minds. Rick is very much my sort of dog too. He looks gorgeous.
