New Doors

the bungalow

We are having new garage doors fitted today.  I am trying to keep Rick entertained in the garden room to stop him from barking at the fitters.  If we let him loose he would constantly be trying to hug the guys so we try to keep him contained.

We have two garages, one is integral and the other is situated to the side of the bungalow; the old doors looked very tatty and the wooden frames were rotten.

The new ones will look more contemporary and they are electric so will open with a click of the remote control.  I spent hours trying to choose a colour but in the end decided to stay with white.  A bit boring but the colour will not fade and will match any other colour changes we might want to make to the doors or windows in the future.

Another task ticked off the list.

    1. Hmm, let me see. I think the utility room needs a facelift. And then there's the garden room...

  2. You should have had rainbow coloured doors to show your support for the NHS. I hope you don't encounter future problems with the remote control. Just saying.

  3. Oh gosh - reading Yorksire Pud above - I have electric doors (white too) and so far they have been alright. They did stop once but my doors are apparently the kind which have tiny batteries at the foot of the doors and they have to be replaced about every two years. Some are not like that/

    1. I think problems are quite rare and it's usually a case of renewing the batteries. In any case ours have got a manual option for emergency use.

  4. What's it like living in a bungalow? I like going up to bed.

    1. My creaky old knees don't miss the stairs. But I know what you mean about going up to bed. There is a large, windowed room upstairs that would make a nice studio but at the moment it's a junk room. And you have to climb a sort of ladder to access it. This place will be great in the future when we start racing around with our zimmer frames.

  5. The old door didn't look too bad! It'll be fun to have it open automatically.

    1. Paul is finding out that if you hold the remote upside down the wrong door opens. Duh!

  6. I can't imagine having anything but remote door openers. You wouldn't want to have to get out of your vehicle to open the garage door, and then close it again, in our lovely winters!!! Enjoy!

  7. A lot of people round here are going for new roller shutter doors. My friend had a double one fitted, and loves it.
