Yesterday Paul and I visited an art exhibition in the nearby village of
Hackthorn.
It was the annual showing of the local art
club in the village hall and a rather predictable display of ‘nice’ landscapes.
I would love to have bought a
painting but there was nothing that really stood out for me.

the sloping wall is attributed to the glass of wine in one hand, camera in the other |
|
even the artist guy running the show was a
cliché (very charming though) |
The village hall is part of the Hackthorn Hall estate and the parkland
surrounding the big house is used for equestrian events.
There is a public footpath through the park
and Rick really enjoyed his afternoon walk; he really doesn’t care for fine
art.
That's a nice picture of you and Rick! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn.
DeleteYou both look beautiful and happy.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why Rick's got his tail tucked away.
DeleteWe have village art exhibitions like that - all very predictable really. You are Rick look really at home in Hackthorn Hall grounds.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very pretty place.
DeleteAt least, these days, there are no badly executed copies of Diana photos. In the past I've been invited to judge and give prizes at such shows; nightmare.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, did people really do that?
DeleteEach worse than the other. Loads of them.
DeleteI thought you might have liked that large "through the trees" canvas...or was it a photograph? By the way, who is that gorgeous filly holding Rick's lead? You never said you employed a dog walker. Is she from Scandinavia?
ReplyDeleteShe's the au pair and her name is Brigitta. Paul liked the tree canvas.
DeleteNice photo of you and Rick - you look as though you are enjoying life.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the number of landscapes at the Art Exhibition, I should say that the artists were given Landscapes as the theme. I'm sure many of the paintings were well executed, but they do make for a monotonous display.
They were well painted but just, well, boring and predictable.
DeleteEverywhere looks wonderful, I love your pictures. Yes poor people in those floods. We are fortunate here in Suffolk, we have rain but not enough, the farmers are always complaining.
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of standing water in the fields around here, it's not draining away very quickly. I've just bought a red raincoat for Rick.
