This morning we visited our local farm shop to buy a few things for lunch. Paul had baked bread and we wanted to get some pâté and cheese to go with it. There were just too many tempting things on display! Kat is at home this week so I blame her for persuading Paul to buy the bottle of Sloe Gin. We had a tasting session when we got home – it packed quite a punch but was absolutely delicious.
the Wild Boar pâté was good too |
Earlier in the day all three of us had gone out on our bikes. Kat was riding her traditional ladies bicycle and I was a bit worried that she wouldn't be able to keep up with us on our snazzy hybrids. I should have known better, she cruised effortlessly along and left me standing! Paul just about managed to stay with her but I had to play catch up all the way. Give me another glass of that Sloe Gin!
Oooh, we love that wild boar pâté too. We buy it from a delicatessen in the north of the island as a special treat. They also do a good venison pâté
ReplyDeleteWe haven't tried the venison one yet, might have to go back and restock soon!
DeleteI adore wild boar pate - deliciou with sloe gin I guess.
ReplyDeleteI thought the pâté would last two days but it disappeared very quickly!
DeleteI don't know about wild boar pate but I like sloe gin!
ReplyDeleteIt's the first time I have tasted sloe gin, it's good isn't it?
DeleteI was given a small bottle of Sloe eau-de-vie a few years ago; there's still a bit left.
ReplyDeleteI think our bottle may empty very quickly!
DeleteSounds delicious. We called in to Rutland cycles a week or so ago to try out their electric range. We saw the best range with great sales assistants. Tim is still very capable of riding his road bike (and does!), but I've decided that the time has come for me to get a hybrid bike so we can enjoy longer rides together.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying reading about how you are settling in back in the UK.
Sadly our hybrid bikes don't have any assisted power, they are a hybrid cross between a road bike and an off road bike. My legs do all the work!
DeleteGood job Kat didn't have a snazzy bike too or she'd have been at The Humber Bridge before you and Paul had pedalled out of the village.
ReplyDeleteShe absolutely would have!
DeleteSloe gin is quite nice drunk with tonic! I am now craving fresh crusty bread and pate/ sloppy brie!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely going to try the Sloe G&T.
