A cool and blustery Bank Holiday Monday. No art class in Market Rasen today but I decided to get my paints out and do some painting at home. Rick offered to be my model (much more fun than still life).

not the best pose but at least he was still |

preliminary colour wash |

a bit more detail required (I never know when to finish) but it doesn't look scruffy enough to be Rick |
Even though it is not finished yet the painting is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Yael.
DeleteIt looks good but you need to loosen up. Do some fast sketches of him and see what happens.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, I'm always scared of messing up.
DeleteYou have concentrated so well on that eye. It's very good but I agree that Rick is rather more scruffy.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely needs more scruff.
DeleteMuch better than I could do in years. Agree with Y P - the eye is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteIn truth Rick's eyes are usually hidden behind his fringe.
DeleteThe last Dog drawing I did was of Monty. Very difficult keeping the pose reasonably constant. I ended up doing it in pencil, then re-drawing in ink later. My drawing of Bok remains only half done. Maybe I'll try again with Billy. I like your picture of Rick.
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased I managed to capture something of Rick.
DeleteI think it's beautiful and love the eye.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol.
DeleteA Whole lot more exciting than that crappy Still Life setup . . . . with practice you will make Rick scruffy enough but this is him going out on a Sunday afternoon.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the Still Life, it was crappy.
Deletemy gosh you are so talented!
ReplyDeleteVery hit and miss!
