I blame the weather. It has been cold and wet all week, really quite depressing. This is our first English spring in thirteen years. Then I remind myself of the frequent wet and cold springs that we had in France, it’s easy to forget that it wasn’t all sunshine and daisies. Earlier in the week we drove to Grimsby to visit a specialist lighting shop. There was a north wind blowing, it was raining, it was grim! We didn’t linger.
Today has been better, with lots of sunshine. I took Rick for a walk along Barff Lane, it was an absolute delight, the hedgerows were awash with hawthorn blossom.
Paul has been busy working in his greenhouse today planting up his tomato plants. Peppers, chillies and bean plants are still lined up in my garden room waiting to go outside. Overnight temperatures are still low and there is a warning of frost tonight. Come on summer, hurry up and get here.

Quite cold here today but dry and sunny so definitely an improvement Lincolnshire looks nice and sunny too and I love the look of that blossommy lane - looks so nice and shaltered.
ReplyDeleteThe lane looks so pretty at the moment, there is lilac too.
DeleteI'm a bit worried about the frost forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Not quite sure how to cover all the greenhouse plants with fleece.
ReplyDelete(Last spring was even colder and longer!)
Paul has been covering everything up. Seems so late in the year to have frost.
DeleteStill cold here but the sun and blue sky has just returned at 4pm. I hope it stays.
ReplyDeleteSunshine and blue skies make such a difference.
DeleteVery hot here.
ReplyDeleteSome warmer weather here would be nice.
DeleteIt has been cold and rainy here, as well. It definitely affects your mood. I'm looking forward to some nicer weather, and wish it would have been warm for Mother's Day (it's tomorrow here in Canada). The pictures from your walk look nice, however. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteYesterday's sunshine certainly cheered me up. I hope you're getting spoilt for Mother's Day.
DeleteWe keep waiting each week for the weather to warm up and to see some sunshine, but the forecast is more or less the same. One sunny but cool day and six cloudy, rainy days. I really don't mind it being a bit cool, but I really need some sunshine!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like we're all waiting for some warmth and sunshine.
DeleteIt's been quite a good Spring here this year. Temps are around 18 - 20 C with plenty of sunshine and occasional light rain; perfect for getting the garden going.
ReplyDeleteWe did have a frost last night. I try not to look at the weather forecast in France now!
DeleteI believe I mentioned to you how cold it is in the east of England when you first said you were looking in Lincs. I don't think people realise just how cold this coast is, particularly when the wind comes down off the North Sea.
DeleteWe are quite protected from the coast this side of the Wolds but there has been a northerly wind blowing this past week. At least it is drier than the south west.
DeleteAre you sure Paul wasn't just thumbing through girlie magazines while shut up in his greenhouse? Last week was uninspiring but this week looks a lot better already.
ReplyDeleteHe's more turned on by his tomato plants than girlie mags these days.
