Exotic

Hadrian

“I’m not exotic,” said a forlorn little voice.

“Exotic or erotic?”

“Exotic.”

“What are you talking about?”

“I’m 92.8% British, 4.1% Finnish and 3.1% Italian.”

Paul had finally received the results of his DNA test.  He had hoped to track down his unknown grandfather (his mother was adopted) whom he had believed was a Canadian solider.  He was rather disappointed to discover he is British without any trace of Canadian blood.

Italian is quite exotic. But with only 3.1% it probably dates back to when the Romans invaded Britain.  Maybe he’s related to Hadrian.

  1. A vast portion of Canadians came from the British Isles, so I'm not sure how they could even determine "Canadian" blood. That would be indigenous peoples?? -Jenn

  2. If you call him Paolo, maybe he could be a little more exotic. :)

    1. I think he wanted to be a romantic Latino rather than a British bulldog.

  5. Oh dear, poor Paul, but at least the results have narrowed his search. Agree with Coffee, most Canadians have strong British roots.

  6. Sounds like Le Trump will allow him in. My uncle's third given name was Terenzio; I've always wondered why!

  7. Reading Cro's comment, I wonder if that will be the next thing from across the pond? You'll need to have your DNA details attached to your passport before you'll be allowed into the US? Anything even remotely dodgy and you'll be sent back on the next plane !

    2. Just out of interest, to me, a friend wants to go to Russia for the week end. She has just completed the background paperwork of where she was educated, has ever worked and who was in charge, provided three bank statements and listed other countries that she has visited in the last 10 years. On an interview in London figerprints were taken.

    3. I think Rachel had to go through the same rigmarole when she did her train journey across Russia.

  8. 4.1% Finnish? Was the sample contaminated with dishwasher tablets?
