A Pinch and a Punch

“A pinch and a punch, the first day of the month.”  Why do we say this?  According to folklore  it is an old British medieval tradition using a pinch of salt to weaken witches and then a punch to banish the witch for good.  I’m not sure where the white rabbits come into it though.

I'm feeling a bit better today, Paul has bought me daffodils and a book to cheer me up.

  1. I adore daffodils and I have just read that book and really enjoyed it, so enjoy.

  2. Flowers and a book? Sounds like Paul is feeling guilty about something. Has he been chatting up the lollipop lady again?

  3. You will be absorbed in the story as it unfolds and forget your cold.

  6. Love the pinch and the punch routine. I taught it to my grandchildren and there is a fight each month to be first. We also have...a pinch and a punch for the LAST of the month, and...a pinch and a kick for being so quick!!

  7. That vase look as if it would stop the tulip droop that is being displayed by my latest bunch here on the kitchen table. Green buds of daffs are in the garden but I've not seen any in the shops yet.
