There is a gale blowing outside – two of our loungers have just rolled across the patio, their plastic covers acting as sails! The wind has got stronger throughout the morning, it was definitely not blowing so much when I took Rick out earlier.
I’ve had a busy morning, I like to get my jobs done before midday. I mopped the kitchen floor and did some
ironing. I groomed Rick. I vacuumed the leaves from the tiled
passageway outside the kitchen door and mopped the area; it gets very muddy
with paw prints. A pointless exercise today
really, another pile of leaves had gathered by the time I came back indoors.
I can smell wood smoke, surely no one would have a bonfire in this weather! More likely someone has lit their wood burning stove. There was a huge fire in a neighbouring village on Thursday - 30,000 straw bales went up in smoke apparently caused by some nearby piles of woodchips self combusting.

Paul is currently climbing a mountain on his bike in the gym. Kat is also climbing the same mountain in Brize Norton and they are chatting together as they cycle. The wonders of technology. Me? I rode up a volcano yesterday so I'm putting my feet up now.
P.S. The fire has re-started in the high winds and the skyline is glowing this evening.
You're getting good use of your gym. I exercise like you, one day on and next day off. Your fireplace looks so cozy and you've got the perfect lounge to enjoy the fire. I've got blizzard conditions, high wind and snowing through the night.ReplyDelete
It's nice to be able to cycle regardless of what the weather is doing outside.Delete
Just what the country needs when trying to produce green energy, 30,000 of the feeder for the energy plant going up in smoke before it gets there. Careless if it was a self combusting woodchip but at least it wasn't a nitrate store, then there would be no more Gainsborough and no more Market Rasen etc etc. Windy here too, I should have done the washing.ReplyDelete
It's alight again this afternoon and another load has gone up in smoke - we can see the smoke from here. This wind won't be helping the situation. Apparently they are evacuating some houses as there is a firework factory in the vicinity!Delete
Love the socks!ReplyDelete
Thanks Pat, they are a bit silly but they make me smile.Delete
Ahem! I hate to mention this Sue but your socks don't match! I think this is what as known as a fashion faux pas.ReplyDelete
Gosh, I hadn't noticed! I am hugely embarrassed now.Delete
The socks are so beautiful.ReplyDelete
Haha, thanks Yael.Delete
A bit close for comfort, wouldn't you say? Especially if you are experiencing high winds. Stay safe!ReplyDelete
Too far away to be a worry for us, thankfully.Delete
Great socks! Can anyone explain how a wood chip can self combust?ReplyDelete
Not too sure about that but I do know our compost heaps get very hot.Delete
