I took Rick out for a stroll around the village this afternoon; Paul usually does the later walk but we swapped today as he has got a virtual cycle race this afternoon.
The sky looked a bit threatening in the distance but we had blue sky and sunshine to accompany our walk. The village was very quiet and Rick and I had the lanes to ourselves. He totally ignored the sheep in the field, I don’t think he realises that he is a sheep dog.
There was no activity at the farm today, they have been very busy all week
cutting and harvesting the maize fields.
When I got home I fetched the washing in from the garden that I had hung out
to dry just after breakfast. I don’t
know why I bother at this time of year, it felt just as damp as when I put it
out. It is now elegantly draped over the horse in the garden room.
Exquisite Autumn colours.
ReplyDeleteThe colours just seemed to stand out against the dark sky this afternoon.
DeleteThe landscape is beautiful. Rick was a very good boy not going after the sheep. He might be a sheep dog but he is also a gentleman.
ReplyDeleteHe is very aloof when it comes to sheep.
DeleteThe thought of washing draped over a horse in your garden room made me ponder but then I realised what you meant! I guess we'd say airer.
ReplyDeleteIt reminded me though of when I lived in Northumberland, and an eccentric chap in our village who used to keep a horse in his house. One day it's head appeared from an open upstairs window and the postman was so taken aback that he crashed his van into the lamppost!
I couldn't have a proper horse in my garden room, their muddy hoofs would make a right mess of the carpet.
DeleteWe are having a much better Autumn than last year and the colours are spectacular. We were only saying this this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteThe colour of the trees made me stop and fight to get my phone out of the back pocket of my jeans (hanging on to Rick's lead at the same time) to take the photo.
DeleteAt least your laundry got a bit of a blow to freshen it up. I love the smell of clothes dried outdoors.
ReplyDeleteBilly would have had those Sheep tidied-up in no time. My socks get draped over radiators; Lady M goes crazy!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo of the trees in the lane. - reminiscent of the ones I used to walk with our dogs back when we lived in the UK.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem with drying washing outdoors now that we're going through a damp and rainy spell, so it goes from the line to the tumble dryer. Small items, and my shower towel hang over the back of a chair under an air-con unit, until it's dry. Until my new central heating system is installed and up and running, I'm using the units to the heat rooms. Dread to think what my electricity bill will be!
My favorite time of year with all of the beautiful colors of Autumn. That looked like a nice hike!
ReplyDeleteIs a virtual cycle race where you have a Sunday afternoon nap and dream about the Tour de France?
