It rained here all day yesterday and quite a few roads are flooded locally. The village beck is running very high; I’m sure the residents living in nearby cottages are feeling a bit nervous right now. But this morning the sun is shining and I’m just watching the last remaining leaves drift down from the poplar trees. Falling autumn leaves are such a tangible sign of time moving on.
the handrails of the ford are almost covered |
The hallway has also had a bit of a makeover. It’s a fairly cheap reproduction but I love the colours from Klimt’s portrait of Adele.
I’m taking a break from art classes and I have packed away my brushes for the time being. I shall dabble again in the future.

Very nice improvement in the hallway! Finding just the right artwork for your walls is not easy - good luck in your quest. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteI had a hard job convincing Paul that the hall was wide enough for the console table.
DeleteLooking really good. Lincoln is good for you both (and Rick!)
ReplyDeleteRick seems to like it a lot!
DeleteYour gaffe is looking great Sue. I hope you haven't given up on the idea of creating your own canvas. What you produced before was not a "failure" - it was stepping stone to something better.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mr Pudding. I might have another go at a canvas masterpiece one day, or I might just pour myself another glass of wine.
DeleteYou are certainly putting your stamp on the house Sue and it looks lovely. Love that Klimt
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat. I've always been a fan of Klimt.
DeleteIt took me a moment to realize the second photo of the Klimt was a reflection in a mirror. Very clever!
ReplyDeleteI think the painting goes well with the mirror.
DeleteIt's much the same here, without the flooding. It's been raining for over a week (on and off), and is set to continue for another week. Barbour and wellies are in constant use.
ReplyDeleteEverywhere is very sodden and squelchy. Bad news for the local farmers and their potato crops.
DeleteI'd love to see you freaking out in a scruffy house.
ReplyDeleteYou really wouldn't! It's true, I like my own home to be clean and tidy. It gives me an illusion of being in control.
DeleteI can imagine!
DeleteEvery corner of your home looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat is kind of you to say so Yael.
DeleteHow strange - your hallway is almost the same as mine, even down to the wooden floor, except that the front door is roughly where your radiator is! At one time I even had a couple of smaller Klimt prints on the wall.
ReplyDeleteLove your big yellow taxi print.
Sorry to hear that you've packed your paints away, but maybe the break will restore your interest before too long. A friend is here from the UK, and has brought her Alcohol paints and Yupo paper with her, so we're having a few lessons on how to use them.
I don't know what Yupo paper is, I shall look it up. That's nice to have a friend to paint with.
DeleteYupo is the special paper you need for alcohol inks. We actually use tiles too - they take the inks very well.
DeleteWe had a very good time, and will be making the most of her visit.
