Rick talking to some wet sheep |
wet husband and wet dog |
A Family Fun Event that has been organised by our village hall committee is going ahead this afternoon despite the rain. I have a feeling that the Duck Race could be exciting as the beck is in full flood. It's such a shame when so much work goes into planning and organising these events.
On a brighter note the red peppers that got off to a slow start in the greenhouse have performed wonderfully well. I picked a big batch yesterday to blacken under the grill - I love char-grilled peppers. A little taste of summer.
I think we have been quite lucky with the rain so far, only heavy downpours and plenty of sunshine. Same here this morning, the sun is now shining after a dull start. Hope your day turns out ok with some sunshine too.
ReplyDeleteIt's been raining constantly here all day with no sign of it stopping. I'm watching the Yorkshire cycling on television and staying dry! Lots of abandons but Sagan is still there.
DeleteThe ducks will be racing down the beck like power boats. They'll be in The Humber Estuary and out into The North Sea before you can say "Boris Johnson is a complete twat".
ReplyDeleteThe Easter race was cancelled because the beck was dry.
DeleteThat's a wet dog! Lovely peppers, though. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteThere's still loads more in the greenhouse. I think we shall have to freeze some.
DeleteBeautiful day here, 26 C; I'm almost sorry we closed the pool. It won't last.
ReplyDeleteBah!
DeleteThe peppers look great, and the wet Rick too.
ReplyDeleteI think he needs a special doggy hat to keep his ears dry.
DeleteI LOVE char-grilled peppers. Well done, you!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the rain goes away soon, although your wet husband and dog are both cute! :)
Don't you just love the smell of damp dog!
DeleteYes the race was indeed rerouted and came through Leyburn earlier than planned which meant a lot of folk missed it. And many events which were planned for the Market Square were a wash out. Sad really but up here the weather can often be a spoiler and the organisers obviously had contingency plans in place.
ReplyDeleteIt was good to see so many spectators out in the rain cheering the riders on.
DeleteThe peppers look lovely and wet dog and hubby pretty good too.
ReplyDeleteThe peppers were delicious with our lunchtime salad.
DeletePeppers, which have been increasingly expensive this year, are suddenly half price in the stores just when the home grown plants are producing their crop. It's the same with the tomatoes but I still like the home grown ones more.
ReplyDeleteThey are getting quite expensive to buy in the shops. I dread having to revert to supermarket tomatoes in the winter, they just don't taste the same.
DeleteI thought that you had gone away for couple of weeks in hot dry France.
ReplyDeleteNo such luck!
DeleteVery warm and sunny here, and we've luckily missed the torrential rains that have caused havoc in the region.
ReplyDeleteThose peppers look gorgeous - I can almost taste them from here! Perhaps you could use a few in a still life picture - they would certainly add plenty of colour.
Does Rick's fur dry beautifully silky after he's been in the rain?
Funnily enough I commented yesterday that Rick's fur has gone wonderfully soft after getting wet in the rain.
DeleteFabulous peppers! Ive never had any luck growing them
ReplyDeleteFirst time we've grown them in the greenhouse, very pleased with the result.
