A Measure of Refinement

Sophistication - a measure of refinement

Last night was an evening of indulgence.  An empty glass just wasn’t right to watch my favourite television programme – Killing Eve.  I had to refill my wine glass and dive into a bag of cheesy Doritos.  Not exactly sophisticated entertainment but I enjoyed my evening.

I made another attempt at making pesto today, this time I left out the plastic bottle cap.  We ate it with spaghetti and baby broad beans for lunch.  Accompanied by a chilled white wine it was a simple but sophisticated lunch.

 Posh ain't I?

  1. Killing Eve is our favourite thing on at the moment. Love it, I have red wine.

  2. I really must stop buying Pesto in a jar and try making it.

    1. Ever so easy if you've got a whizzer machine. I use peanuts instead of pine nuts.

    2. Walnuts are good too (which we have by the truck-load).

  4. Sounds like a wonderful evening. Killing Eve is still $2.99 per episode on Amazon here, or $20 per season, so I'm waiting until it's free with Prime to watch. Or until I've run out of other wonderful things to watch and talk myself into paying!

  5. I've heard that Killing Eve is good but I don't have access. Plenty of other things to binge watch, though, between Netflix, HBO, and Starz.

    I like your fancy snacks!

    1. I just have to snack if I'm watching something good.

  6. Somewhere at the back of a cupboard I have an unopened jar of Pesto. I don't like pasta (apart from in a lasagne or cannelloni) so it was probably a waste to buy it.
Have more or less given up watching TV until the winter months, so my viewing is sporadic at best. Although I've seen trailers for "Killing Eve", I haven't watched it.

  7. I too loved the hilarious pig outfit. I couldn't make this comment appear in the right place though.

  8. Waller-Bridge is an amazing woman. Watch Fleabag if you haven't already done so.

  9. I hate to burst your bubble Sue but posh people do not eat cheesy "Doritos". They eat quails' eggs and beluga caviar and they say "Ya!" repeatedly. Their dogs are also fine pedigree creatures called Alphonse or Isadora...not Rick!

    1. I feel thoroughly deflated now. Quail eggs are a nightmare to peel and caviar is too salty so I went for the Doritos. As for Rick, well, he's just priceless.
