Walk Like A Penguin
There was a heavy frost yesterday morning but it was a beautiful day, all blue skies and sparkling. This morning was very different, damp and misty when Paul set off with Rick for his early walk. Within minutes they were back, the footpaths were covered in black ice and Paul was struggling to stand upright. Apparently you should walk like a penguin on icy surfaces. Some people would say that I always walk like a penguin. Rick had to be content with a wander around the garden until the ice had melted later in the morning.
I stayed indoors and decided to christen the new bath. It was wonderful, luxuriating in the hot, bubbly water. But as I wallowed I noticed that the water level seemed to be going down. Surely not? I topped up with some more hot water and watched. Yup, very slowly the water was disappearing. The super duper modern pop-up plug was not working properly. It will have to be replaced. We never had this problem with the good old fashioned rubber plugs.

Sometimes the pop-up plugs just need adjusting so they sit lower (some are easier to do than others!) and therefore don't let the water out :)
ReplyDeleteThe bathroom shop is going to replace it so we will see what happens.
DeleteI detest fancy modern plugs. They're often broken and they are difficult to repair or replace. What a shame that you discovered this after all the upheaval.
ReplyDeleteIt will get sorted, never fear.
DeleteSame here, lots of hidden ice this morning.
ReplyDeleteFoggy tonight too driving back from Lincoln.
DeleteThe same happens with my new washbasin - and my thoughts were exactly the same.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be a common problem with these new fangled plugs.
DeleteA long, hot, bubbly bath sounds wonderful. Hope you were still able to enjoy the christening!
ReplyDeleteIt didn't last quite as long as I would have liked!
DeleteI have a fancy plug in the bathroom basin; it doesn't work!
ReplyDeleteQuite a bit of very small hail here yesterday, by the time it had stopped it looked like a light covering of snow.
That sounds cold. I miss my ancient old French bath. It was huge and the plug mechanism worked fine.
DeleteBest place to walk when it's icy like that is on the grass. We don't have fences or hedges on the front of our properties so you can walk all the way down the street on everybody's lawns, lol. We've always had the pop up plugs here but DH always keeps a rubber plug in his wash bag when we travel, just in case!!
ReplyDeleteWe have to walk over hard surfaces before we can reach the grass verges. It was like an ice rink yesterday.
