In The Garden

A lazy blog today, just some photos of the garden that I took earlier this morning.

clematis

the new border to hide the compost heap is filling in nicely

There is a burst of colour in the corner of Paul's vegetable patch - our Pieris Forest Flame shrub has turned a beautiful shade of red after losing its spring flowers.

our hostas always put on a good show

lots of bees buzzing around the lupins

  1. Your garden is looking wonderful - and so many plants are thriving - testimony to expert care and green fingers! The Pieris is beautiful - I had two in the garden when we lived in the UK. Not sure if they grow here - I can't recall seeing any in garden centres. My clematis though, has been flowering for the last two or three months, in spite of some unusually cold spells I thought might kill it off. I also have pink flowered Passiflora, which after a slow start has run riot.

    1. Forgot to say that the Passiflora can't be touched right now - we have a bird nesting in it. It's well hidden from the neighbour's cats and Inca and I are keeping an eye on it. When I last looked the eggs had hatched and there were five little mouths waiting for mum to come home with some food. I've put breadcrumbs out below the plant in the hope she'll find them!

    2. I love the exotic flowers of the Passiflora, we used to have one in France. What bird do you have nesting in yours?

    3. No idea, I haven't been close enough to see her properly and don't want to disturb her. The nest is tiny, and I have only seen her beak peeking out when she was sitting on the eggs. I just hope they all survive and don't get killed by the cats - there are feral ones around - attracted by neighbouring houses that have cat flaps.

  2. I think the lupins etc that I put in this year will be quite late to flourish and I may even need to wait until next year. However it is good to see them growing and some baby lupins coming and some buds on the rose.

    1. This is the second year for our lupins so they are quite vigorous now.

  3. A very well-groomed garden. Wish I could grow lupins here (have tried in the past) but I do have a clematis flourishing.

    1. This is the first garden we have tried growing lupins, they seem very content to grow up amongst the roses.
