Day four of the window installation. The guys are working at both ends of the bungalow so I have retreated into the garden room with Rick to keep out of their way. Today they are replacing the kitchen patio doors and the front porch door. They will be back on Monday to do the big one – the massive garden room sliding doors.

The weather has been kind to us although it does get a bit draughty when there is a big hole in the wall. Hopefully there won’t be a blizzard blowing on Monday. It will be a huge relief when everything is finished and I can sit back and admire my shiny new windows.
Rick’s intermittent barking is driving me mad. It’s not his fault, every time he hears a strange noise he yelps. It gets tiresome after a while. I look forward to his afternoon walk when we can escape the noise and disruption for a while. If the sun is still out later there will be families out walking with their children. I will try and choose a quiet route so that we can just amble along and enjoy the English countryside. Snowdrops and aconites are just poking through the winter grass and it’s a reassuring sight that Spring is not far away.
Replacing nearly all your windows? Good heavens - I wondered who it was that got five numbers and the bonus ball in Wednesday's Lotto!
ReplyDeleteNot nearly all our windows - every one of them in fact! Paul and I were reminiscing earlier how we had to save up and replace the windows one by one in our first family house.
DeleteYou were lucky to have windows in your first family house. All that we had was a skip with a tarpaulin thrown over the top.
DeleteErm . . . will you have to shine all those windows before you can sit and admire them? I wish you a dry, mild day on Monday - with no wind.
ReplyDeleteThe window fitters are polishing the windows as they work. In future I hope my window cleaner will keep them looking good.
DeletePhew! Then you CAN sit and admire them.
DeleteI saw my first crocus today.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see some colour in our garden. Only snowdrops at the moment.
DeleteYour new windows are fantastic. I love the wall of glass. The light coming inside will be lovely and your views of the garden will be great. Poor Rick doesn't like strangers in his house. I can relate because my dog does not like contractors either. My iris and daffodils were poking up but now we have snow, wind and -4 degree weather.
ReplyDeleteDogs and contractors don't really go together!
DeleteYou seem to have a wonderful window wall and Rick will have a wider field of view to the yard.
ReplyDeleteThe garden room is my favourite place in summer.
DeleteDarling Sue,
ReplyDeleteYour window wall really does bring the outside in. Such a wonderful way to enjoy the great outdoors from the comfort of a warm sitting room.
And, how wonderful to see the tell-tale signs of Spring. This really does lift the spirits.
wow, your windows are amazing! gillian
