Monochrome

On cold, grey days I wish I hadn't chosen monochrome tones for my flat...

  1. Why don't you both pose about a bit in your day glow yellow/orange cycling kit?

    1. We would do that Potty but we left our kit in France!

    2. I have just spilt red wine on the seat cover of our sofa! With a bit of luck it might not be a permanent splash of colour. I blame my husband for wanting the cricket and I just dropped off fullish glass in hand.

    3. Oops, red wine is a tricky one.

  2. Brown, beige and black; beautiful, and, from the little I can see, you have good taste as well.
P.s. I love your witty comments you sometimes leave on other blogs, Sue :)

  4. Add bright cushions for the sofa? A colourful picture or wall hanging? Your colour scheme is almost identical the one we had in our house in the UK.
Our house in Spain has neutral tones too, with the occasional artwork on the walls to brighten things up. I think I'll add some bright cushions to the sofas - just to add a splash of colour, but when I come to do it, I expect I'll go for something neutral or soft tones. Soft colours do give a restful atmosphere.

  5. Time for a few colourful scatter cushions and glass or ceramic pieces then??

    1. Not keen on scatter cushions (they always end up on the floor) but I have been on the look out for a large piece of red flambe ceramic.

  6. I've always liked the French use of greys, often combined with gold. That Provencal greeny-grey (the colour of the back of an olive tree leaf) is a good example. I don't find them cold at all.

    1. I have an old pine dresser in France that I'm very tempted to paint that colour.

  8. You need more light and pure white than these photographs suggest there is.

    1. Pure white walls would definitely make it more dramatic. Being a new build it's all magnolia.
