On Yer Bike

"Can we have a rest day?"

We’ve only been riding for four days and already my cycling buddy has weakened.  But I must admit it has been painful getting back into the saddle after a lazy winter in the UK.  It is glorious to be cycling along the rural roads of south west France again – wonderful scenery, no cars and no potholes.  But too many hills.

Summertime cycling has become a bit of an obsession recently.  I have discovered a form of exercise that I can enjoy (especially going downhill) that doesn’t make my hips hurt.  I don my lycra and padded shorts with pride and set off each morning to explore new routes.

This is Paul posing outside the town hall in Sauveterre.
