Building Fences

What a topsy turvy world this is right now.  Crazy shenanigans in Parliament and a horrific massacre in New Zealand.  Even the weather is crazy, the wind is howling like a banshee outside.

A mere gale is not going to stop Paul working on his latest project.  He is building a fence around his vegetable plot.   It looks like a corral, I just need a couple of horses now.  It is, of course, just a barrier to keep Rick from jumping all over the broad beans and other tender vegetables that we are going to plant there.

Trendy garden clogs, not the best footwear for building work

This wind has been blowing for days.  It has blown a rook’s nest from one of the high trees, a big pile of twigs strewn at the side of the road.  Our neighbour has had their conservatory roof demolished by a falling branch.  I hope it stops soon.  So much blossom being tossed from the trees like confetti.  A magnolia tree in the garden next to ours is about to burst into flower, we just need some nice, gentle spring days now.

"This wind is making my ears cold!"

"Thanks dad, that's better."

  1. These murders at Friday prayers happen almost weekly in varying numbers around the world and murders of Coptic Christians and minority Christians. When they are given equal attention will be the arrival of true love thy neighbour and equality.

    1. I grieve for those closest to me, I cannot grieve for all the atrocities in this world.

  3. What's the betting Rick develops the art of leaping fences?

    1. He could clear it easily if he wanted to, but he's a good boy!

  4. Paul is right, there's nothing worse than finding everything either eaten or trampled by animals. I found a sleeping Deer at Haddock's once.

Went past your old house yesterday. It was all closed-up.

    1. Feels hard to accept that we won't be coming back next month.

  5. Rick is not the son you never had. He's a dog. Dressing him up as if he is ready to go to school is mad. Besides, what about his duffel coat and short trousers?

  6. That's a beautiful fence he's building. Maybe some morning glories growing up the sides?

    1. I'm not sure about Morning Glory - we tried to grow some in France and it failed to grow.
