Rural Life

Rural living definitely brings its own challenges.  Yesterday Paul went to read the water meter and was confronted by a wasps nest, there was a mouse in the laundry room and when I went upstairs I was greeted by a lizard lounging in the middle of my bedroom carpet.

After a cloudy start today the sun has come out and it is stiflingly hot.  But there is a feeling in the garden that summer is nearly over.  The Autumn crocuses are out and have been attracting a lot of bees today.  The lavender bushes have been cut back and the pampas grass plumes have just started to emerge.  Everything is constantly changing.

Rick wants a ride on the mower

  1. No Hornets here; what's happened to them? Yes, lovely day. In and out of the pool this afternoon.

  2. Funny but i thought about Rick today, (in my car driving back home from the grandkids), i thought how lucky you are to have such a good dog.

    1. He's good when he's not barking! He gets over excited in the car and spends the first five minutes barking non-stop.

  3. Boys and their toys ! Does Rick chase after the mower when Paul's cutting the lawn?

    2. Bok's the same with the mowers and the chainsaw. I wonder what they're thinking?

  4. No sign of fall yet, 94º today. Wonder if my cat would like to ride the lawn mower, she likes the vacuum cleaner.

    1. Rick really hates the vacuum cleaner. Come to think of it, so does Paul.

    1. That is probably true. I'll have to get him a license.

    2. Goggles and a leather flying helmet will also be required.

  6. My husband 'flushed out' a little green frog around 11:30 last night. This morning I found it, or it's friend on the table in a plant saucer. Both it and the plant looked dry so I watered the plant and gave the frog a one-way ticket into the vines. Sorry that you have a crunchy knee.
