Stormy Weather

Last night we walked to the local Indian restaurant for supper.  It was a really nice meal, we had a selection of vegan dishes and some excellent samosas.  The spice level was just right, not too mild and not too hot. The skies were getting ominously darker so we declined dessert and made our way back to Buddy.  It was a good decision.  Not long after we got home there was a massive storm, far more ferocious than the one earlier this week.  It was an incredible end to the day with flash lightning and loud booms of thunder.  Needless to say Buddy was not a happy dog. He chased around the apartment barking and just wouldn’t settle.  It’s very hard to reassure dogs when they get so anxious.

At least the storm cleared the hot, humid weather and today has dawned bright, sunny and much cooler.  Tai Chi man was up early with his partner doing his exercises on the small area of park just across the road.  He is there every morning without fail.  Paul and I took up Tai Chi one winter as a gentle form of exercise.  We got a bit bored with it in the end and gave it up but I think I need to take it up again to keep fit before we get back on our cycles.

  1. I love a good storm, but Bok doesn't. Even a small amount of thunder will send him upstairs and onto our bed.

My youngest did consider running early morning Tai Chi groups under the Halle at Lumberjack. But of course he's never here. No doubt he and Kellogg are also out each morning in Surfer's Paradise.

    1. I'm with Bok. If Wills did a tai chi course I'd come along. Maybe.

  2. Excellent example of a storm. Good decision to go back. I had a dog who hid in the shoerack when it thundered.

    1. You can't explain to a dog that it's god moving his furniture about.

  3. I love to watch the lightening, but we've been known to sleep through the most violent thunderstorms ! Poor Buddy, our first dog used to hide in the shower whenever there was thunder, and would only settle when we shut the door on him.

    1. I'm a bit nervous with storms, I would probably hide in the shower with the dog. Paul loves them, we get some humdingers in France in the summer.

  4. Ours goes into quiver and drool mode with the storms (and fireworks).
Did one session of Tai Chi and couldn't keep up or upright as I was unable to see what the teacher was doing - well that's my excuse for returning to the swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi.

    1. I know what you mean - as soon as you turn round you can't see the teacher.

  5. Same as Potty. Did it for one term. Couldn't do it and see what the teacher was doing both at the same time. Got to grips with the first bit but when it got more advanced through the different stages I was totally lost and improvising. I liked the warm up exercises at the beginning which were nothing to do with tai chi. When are you coming home?

    1. Leave here Wednesday. This time next week I will be pushing a trolley around Sainsburys and looking at the price of turkeys.

  6. So you are coming back to England or France? Either way, the days are still short and winter is doing her usual stuff. Buddy will miss his doting granny and grandpa.

  7. England first, then back to France early Spring. It's going to be so hard saying goodbye to that furry mutt.
